WELCOME TO THE LITTLE VETS

About the Author
Angela Sosa-Boehm has always been driven by a passion for knowledge. She believes that knowledge empowers us, and that learning is a continuous process. As a veterinarian, Angela understands that the world of medicine is constantly evolving. The disease processes affecting pets are complex and can be challenging for adults to grasp, let alone children. Nothing is more unsettling for a child than not knowing why their beloved pet is sick.
To address this, Angela created the Little Vet book series, designed to help children understand the diseases that may affect their pets. These books are written in a SOAP format, which is the systematic approach veterinarians use to evaluate each case. Each book presents a unique case, outlining common symptoms, diagnostic methods used to determine illnesses, as well as the treatment plan, prevention, and prognosis for the pet.
From a young age, Angela knew her calling was to be a veterinarian. She fondly recalls memorizing every dog, cat, and horse breed from her encyclopedias and avidly reading every book about veterinarians she could find. However, while these books detailed the day-to-day life of a veterinarian, they often left her questions about animal sickness and prevention unanswered. This thirst for understanding fueled her academic journey, leading her to earn a Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Animal Science, as well as a second Master's in Environmental Health with an emphasis in Toxicology, along with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Angela is inspired by her two sons, Nolan and Sammy, whose curiosity and ability to quickly grasp new concepts remind her daily of the profound impact learning has, especially when it comes to the wellbeing of pets. She is passionate about fostering a better understanding of animal health among children and their families, providing them with knowledge that makes the veterinary experience easier to comprehend.
